This website, francislandford.com, is run by Francis Landford. This page explains in plain language what information the site collects, why, and what choices you have.

Visit statistics

To understand which pages are read, the site records each page view: the page address, the page you came from, the time, a short description of your device and browser, and your approximate country, region and city. The location is worked out from your connection address using a database stored on this server, and only the place is kept.

Your IP address is not stored, and these statistics do not use cookies. A one-way scrambled code, which changes every day, is used to count how many different visitors came, and it cannot be turned back into your address.

Contact form and messages

If you send a message through the contact form, the name, email address and message you enter are stored and emailed to me so I can reply. I use them only to respond to you.

Accounts and courses

If you create an account on the e-learning platform, I store your name, email address, course progress, quiz results, certificates and payment records. Mobile money payments are processed by the payment providers; their systems handle your payment details, and this site does not store your PIN or card details.

The chatbot

When you use the Ask My Portfolio chatbot, your questions are sent to an AI service (Anthropic) to produce an answer, and the conversation is stored so I can review and improve it. Please do not type passwords or other sensitive personal information into the chatbot.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses only the small amount of storage it needs to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in if you log in and protects forms from misuse, and a setting in your browser that remembers your light or dark theme.

Advertising

This site shows ads provided by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can manage or opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or learn more at aboutads.info. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Where required by law, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown.

Sharing your information

Your information is not sold. It is shared only with the services needed to run the site, such as the hosting provider, the email service, the payment providers you choose to pay with and the AI service used by the chatbot, or when the law requires it.

How long information is kept

Visit statistics and chatbot conversations are kept while they are useful for understanding and improving the site. Messages and account information are kept for as long as needed to respond to you or to provide the service you asked for.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information held about you, including your account, messages and chatbot conversations, by contacting me. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although parts of the site that need you to be signed in may stop working.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
